Multi-Generational living and small scale farming

ABOUT OUR FAMILY
In 2009 me, my husband Sam and my parents (Dianne and Doug) made the decision to look for land together and build. We found raw land in Hampshire Tennessee after months of searching. In 2010, we built our home with an attached in-law home for my parents. Shortly after moving in our 4th child was born(home birth). Now our home was, 4 adults and 4 children, (3 generations under one roof) we began to learn and work as a family to build our life together on our small farm. It has not been easy but very rewarding. Through blood, sweat and tears we learned about gardening, composting, fermenting (dairy, vegetables and fruit), making everything from scratch, permaculture, maple syruping, rain water harvesting, water bath canning, pressure canning, soil health, animal husbandry, animal butchering, hunting, along with firewood harvesting for our wood burning stoves(to heat our home), the list goes on. The most important lesson has been humbling ourselves before the Lord in learning to live together as three generations. We have cared for chickens(layers and broilers), dairy goats, jersey cows, rabbits and our beloved dogs for almost 20 years.
WHY WE DECIDED TO BUY LAND AND LIVE TOGETHER AS 3 GENERATIONS
My parents at the time were 65 and 67, very independent, involved and helping with everything since our children were very young at the time. We knew that someday they would need our help, Lord willing longevity. My parents celebrated 59 years of marriage in September 2026. My parents both grew up with grandparents in the home. This was an American norm prior to the 1960's. Sam and I grew up without grandparents in the home and desired that way of life for our children, learning and helping to care for grandma and grandpa as they aged. Grandma and Grandpa were a tremendous help while our children were little ones, our season has now changed. Fast forward to 2025, my dad(healthy and fully functioning at 81) suffered a massive stroke March 5, 2025(taking away his mobility). I became a full-time care giver for the most amazing dad!!! He has fought every step of the way to gain back his mobility. My mom is beginning to need help with memory and basic tasks but still loves to help with laundry, cooking and weeding the flower beds. As a family, we are continuing what we started in 2009, we continue to grow and learn but now with a dad that needs daily physical therapy. We are blessed beyond measure and honored to help care for aging parents until they go to be with our Lord Jesus.
WHY WE DECIDED TO CHANGE OUR DIET
Preceding our land purchase and building our home, our third child had a reaction to two month old injections(2007). The doctors would not hear out our concerns and so I began to read and acquire books, many many many books. I read whenever time allowed and I began learning to make everything from scratch. I mean everything! I sourced organic virgin coconut oil in bulk since it wasn't available locally along with numerous other nutrient dense foods. I sought out raw milk and drove hours(my dad helped with the pickups), buying from multiple farmers over the years. Each farmer teaching all of us something new. Little did we realize, one round of injections would generate future health issues in our sweet baby in the years to come.
Trusting the Lord's leading and learning to eat His way was challenging. We wanted our easy food. Our third born child began having periodic small urinary tract infections around one year old. I treated with cranberries and was able to manage for a time with improvements in our diets. Fast forward, February 2019 he began to fill with fluid and was hospitalized and diagnosed with an autoimmune form of kidney disease. He was diagnosed much later than most children, so the doctors couldn't give us an accurate expectation for his kidney's. I began to pray and cry out to our Lord for knowledge and the wisdom to use what knowledge the Lord provided, to find answers for our child. I did not accept the conventional medicines options since they were making him more sick, turning him into a monster and not protecting his kidney's. I did not accept that this was just the way it was going to be. The Lord put a fire in my heart to find answers. So I prayed and prayed without ceasing and by the Grace and Mercy of our Lord we found a Certified Classical Homeopath (in 2021) that specializes in autoimmune diseases(he has specialized in complex cases 30+ years). Our son went into complete remission 10 months after beginning homeopathic medicine. We realized that a clean nutrient dense diet is so very important but was simply not enough facing today's autoimmune diseases. He remains in remission to this day, praise be to our Lord!
We continue to choose to steward what our Lord has put before us, land and animals. We eat well, use herbal tinctures and homeopathic medicines (We limit supplements accept for what's needed to detox heavy metals). Not only for the humans in our household but all of our animals as well. We have successfully utilized homeopathic medicine to treat mastitis in one of our jersey cows!!!
2026 - A NEW SEASON, NEW GENERATION
Our children are now adults and have taken over most of the farming, the heavy lifting if you will. I am still involved in management of the farm, website and social media, but most of my time is dedicated to caring for my parents. Our children have taken over most of the farm responsibilities, and with it new ideas and young energy!
Our children choose to still live at home as they navigate the next phase of their lives. Our oldest child is a Certified Traditional Naturopath and a Registered Certified Reflexologist and continuing her studies in Bach Flower Essence, Classical Homeopathy along with other modalities. She is very involved in the caretaking of the household and animals. You can find out more about her HERE
So, after years of learning, we are now making milk and other farm products for sale. We will be adding more products as time allows. Specializing in Italian flair(my husband Sam is an Italian immigrant, he came to the USA with his family as a young child). We are hopeful to provide nourishing food to people in our surrounding community. We ask for your support and hope to share with others what we have learned over the last almost 20 years. Drop us a note, let us know what poducts you might like to see us provide to the community!!! We love to hear from others who are as passionate about clean food as our family!
You may be able to find us on social media in the near future where I will be sharing anything from farming jersey cows, rabbits and chickens, caring for our beloved dogs, gardening vegetables herbs, flowers, our homemade baked goods, cooking from scratch, homeschooling (charlotte mason style with my own flair), how I cloth diapered all my children when diaper covers barely existed, wearing my children with a sling before it was a thing, co-sleeping, the controversial injections, to cloth feminine hygiene products, hanging our clothes out in the sun, navigating a toxic world and digital screens, going wifi-free completely, managing small farm amid chronic health diagnoses(hypothyroidism, kidney disease, heart failure, stroke recovery, mental health), homeopathy, nutrient dense foods, along with caring for aging parents with great joy, homemaking to its fullest while enjoying the simpleness and joy of home and hearth!
If you have read this far, I deeply Thank you!!!
With love,
Debbie and our whole family
